In Summer 2002 I began working on the problem of direct subdivision of algebraic plane curves with Dr. Chandrajit Bajaj in the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. This work is ongoing.
The goal is to design an efficient algorithm for direct subdivision of algebraic curves, and then to extend the algorithm to certain classes of algebraic surfaces.
