Yosemite: Maxine's Wall p1, Peruvian Flake, Central Pillar of Frenzy, East Buttress of El Cap 10/15-16/05 - Chris Chan On Saturday morning we went up to do Serenity Crack/Sons of Yesterday, but there were 2 parties at the base about to start it. So I led up Maxine's Wall (5.10a well protected) while we were waiting. At the belay I felt some raindrops, so I cleaned the draws and Chris TRed it through the chains. We could see rain at Middle Cathedral and also near the Apron, coming toward us! As it started sprinkling more, we headed down, but it stopped again so we did Peruvian Flake. It sprinkled more when I was on top of this belaying Chris, but we walked off without getting very wet. We headed over to Middle Cathedral because the sky looked blue over there. It was nice, so we did Central Pillar of Frenzy (a bit cool in the shade that day, though). On Sunday the weather was perfectly clear, so we did the East Buttress of El Cap. I'm not the fastest climber, and it got a bit dark on the last pitch, so we climbed that with headlamps and moonlight. The descent took awhile (fortunately I know it well; it could have taken longer), so we started driving back at 11:30pm and arrived in Palo Alto at 3am. It was great to get in some nice classic routes!
